CITY OF RICHARDSON - TRAFFIC TIPS

For week of September 6, 2010

All dates can vary pending weather conditions

1. Jupiter Road CMAQ Intersections /Arapaho Rd/Plano Rd
Project description: Additional right-turn lanes and left-turn bays and new traffic signal systems at Jupiter Rd/Arapaho Rd, Jupiter Rd/Belt Line Rd, Jupiter Rd/Buckingham Rd and Arapaho Rd/Plano Rd.
Traffic impacts: As needed, different traffic lanes will be temporarily blocked to traffic, mainly from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, but in some cases it may be necessary to keep them closed 24/7.
Estimated completion: November of 2010 for all four intersections.

2. Campbell Road at Plano Road Intersection Improvements
Project description: Construction of right-turn lanes, extension of existing right-turn lane for eastbound Campbell Rd, realignment of medians along Campbell Rd, extension of existing double-left turns along Plano Rd and other miscellaneous work.
Traffic Impacts: Up to two lanes in either street could be temporarily closed to traffic from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM but at least two lanes in a given direction will be available for traffic during the rush hours at all times.
Estimated completion: December

3. Walton St. from Polk St to La Salle Dr and Tyler St from Walton St to Dorothy Dr.
Project description: Replacement of water lines and pavement.
Traffic Impacts: Streets will be narrowed down so that contractor can work on half of each street at a time. Traffic will be turned into One-Way operation in each street as needed.
Estimated completion: Late September

4. Belt Line Rd Rehabilitation Project (from Plano Rd to Jupiter Road)
Project description: Pavement and sidewalk repairs.
Traffic Impacts: Up to two lanes in either direction could be temporarily closed to traffic as needed between 9:00 AM and 3:30 PM and the lane that the contractor is working on will be kept closed at all times until the replaced concrete is cured.
Estimated completion: Mid-December

5. Custer Rd from Tyler Street to Twilight Trail
Project description: Street pavement repairs, curb and gutter repairs, sidewalk repairs, addition of ADA ramps, replacement of existing 8” water main.
Traffic impacts: As much as possible two-way traffic will be maintained in narrow lanes.
Estimated completion: Late December

6. Owens Park Subdivision Screening Wall Project
Project description: Demolishing existing stucco wall along Plano Rd and construction of brick wall with stone columns. Also, installation of five entry signs, cleaning and painting of other wall and replacement of some stone columns.
Traffic Impacts: Most of the work should take place along the parkway and off the street, but there could be times when a lane each on Plano Rd north of Campbell Rd and on Campbell Rd at Owens Rd could be blocked to traffic from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM, mainly for truck deliveries.
Estimated completion: Late September

7. Shiloh Rd/Renner Rd
Project description: Utility cable work installation.
Traffic Impacts: The outside westbound lane of Renner Rd east of Shiloh Rd and the northbound outside lane of Shiloh Rd north and south of Renner Road will be temporarily closed to traffic as needed from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Estimated completion: Late September

8. 2010 Utility & Street Repair Project – Richland Park Drive from Birch Ln to Park Bend Drive
Project description: Concrete pavement removal and replacement, concrete sidewalk/leadwalk replacement, 6” concrete curbs, barrier free ramps.
Traffic Impacts: Traffic will only be allowed to travel in one half of the street in one direction while the other half is under construction.
Estimated completion: Early September

9. Centennial Blvd at Spring Valley Road
Project description: Construction of driveway approach.
Traffic Impacts: The outside westbound lane on Centennial Blvd at Spring Valley Road is temporarily closed to traffic.
Estimated completion: Early September
